What this measures
- Character count. Google truncates titles at roughly 600px (about 60 chars). Mobile cuts earlier.
- Word count. 6-12 words is the high-CTR band per most published headline studies.
- Power words. Counts words from a 120-term list (proven, secret, instant, etc.). 1-2 lifts CTR; 4+ trips spam filters.
- Sentiment. Rough polarity from a small lexicon. Useful as a sanity check, not as a final answer.
- SERP truncation preview. Approximate. Real truncation varies by query, device and Google's mood.
When to use the headline analyser
Use this when a page ranks but gets weak click-through, or before publishing a new article where the title tag has to work in Google and AI answer surfaces. The tool is deliberately practical: length, words, sentiment and truncation.
- Aim for a title that fits the SERP and still tells the reader what they get.
- Use one strong word if it fits. Four strong words usually reads as clickbait.
- Check the paired meta description with the meta description checker before finalising.
